DRS Naval Power Systems (NPS)a multi-site operation responsible for $350 million of revenue with locations in Milwaukee, WI, Bridgeport/Danbury, CT, Fitchburg, MA, and High Ridge, MO with an employee base of approximately 900 employees. _Position Summary_

Responsible for and oversees the loading, unloading and moving of materials within or near plant, warehouse, storage facility or worksite.

_Duties and Responsibilities_

  • Responsible and accountable for work orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved

  • Works under minimal supervision on duties and tasks that are frequently non-routine, adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs

  • May perform more detailed tasks requiring deeper knowledge and experience in the specified processes and procedures

  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals

  • Able to effectively communicate with other functional departments, such as Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Sales departments

  • Resolves most questions and problems, referring only the most complex issues to higher levels

  • Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues

  • Responsible for overseeing the proper opening of containers using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools

  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand

  • Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools

  • Conveys materials to or from storage or worksites to designated areas to include the manufacturing floor by use of hand truck, electric dolly, Forklift, or other device

  • Counts, weighs, and records materials moved or handled in an ERP system

  • Attaches tags or labels to materials or otherwise marks information

  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

_Basic Qualifications (include education and years of experience required)_

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years experience

  • Ability to maintain forklift certification

  • Able to follow written and oral instructions

  • U.S. Citizenship required

_Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge_

  • 2-3 years comparable experience strongly preferred

_Physical Requirements_

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently

  • Ability to stand for up to 9 hours a day

  • Walking, lifting, bending, stooping and kneeling
