Title:Software Engineer II
Position Summary: Responsible for the design, development, documentation, and testing of computer software applications and software interfaces on US NAVY surface ship SONAR systems.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Software Engineer II is responsible for performing tasks as directed which includes the following but is not limited to these tasks:
Develop software application designs based on customer specifications and user requirements
Maintain and support existing software baselines and system services
Implement, integrate, and document software systems, subsystems, and services
Support software testing, installation, and integration activities
Demonstrate ability to complete a technical project independently and as part of a team.
Communicate clearly (written and oral) with engineering, program management and the customer as required
Lead, mentor, and coach less experienced engineers
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
2+ years "hands-on" software development
Proficiency in C/C++
Experience with LINUX OS hardware drivers, and hardware interfacing
Working with software development APIs and middleware communications
Interfacing with Serial and Network messaging protocols
Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Security clearance.
Additional Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge:
Network skills: TCP/IP, UDP sockets, CISCO Network Switches
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) experience
Experience writing, maintaining and using GCC Makefiles
Lifting up to 25 lbs up to 25% of time
Walking: up to 25% of time
Climbing, Bending, Standing, Stooping: up to 10% of time
Sitting: up to 75% of time
This position requires the ability to travel to various locations (up to 10% of time).
AAC works on a 9/80 compressed schedule whereby employees work 80 hours in 2 weeks with every other Friday off.
