Title: Senior CNC/CMM Machinist

Job Location: Lemont Furnace, PA (Uniontown area)

Position Summary: The Senior CNC/CMM Machinist III will lead production efforts through the setup, design, programing, inspection, and operation of metal fabrication machinery to create custom products used in higher level assemblies.

*Duties and Responsibilities: *

  • Use engineering models, drawings, and documents to create programs for the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine(s)

  • Convert 3D model part files to G-code using CAM software

  • Convert 3D model part files to CMM programs using MCOSMOS Coordinate Measuring Machine Software

  • Setup and operate manual and CNC machines

  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Design and produce all required fixturing for the production of parts

  • Track, assemble, and complete the assembly of all necessary documents for First Article Inspection (FAI) records

  • Coordinate operations and scheduling of machining support personnel as necessary

  • Maintain and log all manual configuration setup and information of fabricated parts for future reference

  • Identify and suggest various machinery that can be used to carry out or improve machining operations

  • Maintain all machinery per the manufacturers recommendations and all Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs

  • Order as necessary to ensure adequate supplies and raw material are maintained

  • Make required changes to tooling and programs as necessary

  • Produce materials within quality metrics and specifications

  • Operate powered industrial trucks and pallet jacks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks, or trucks or storage facilities.

  • Works under minimal to no supervision on duties and tasks that are frequently non-routine, adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs

  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals

  • Be a self-starter and demonstrate good decision making ability

  • Maintain safe operations and work environment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations

Secondary Accountabilities:

  • Read work orders, follows production drawings, sample assemblies, and receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed

  • Perform go/no-go testing and inspection, using measuring instrumentation, to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards

  • Crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, solders, cements, press fits, or performs similar operations to join or secure parts in place, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment

  • Assist in general facility maintenance and clean up

  • Perform production assembly duties based on verbal instruction

  • Assist other hardware/production personnel as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a CNC machinist

  • 2+ years’ experience using CAD and CAM software

  • 2+ years’ experience programming CMM machines

  • Experience reading drawings and interpreting the GD&T requirements

  • Experience with MCOSMOS CMM software a plus

  • Experience with CNC Vertical Milling and FANUC controls a plus

  • Technical knowledge of engineering documents including: engineering drawings, parts lists and bills of materials

  • Experience with MRP a plus

  • Experience in the use of computer aided applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Must be U.S. citizen and be able to obtain/maintain secret security clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting up to 40 lbs. up to 75% of time

  • Walking, Bending, Standing, Stooping up to 75% of time

  • Climbing: up to 25% of time

  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% of time

AAC works on a 9/80 compressed schedule, with employees working 80 hours in 2 weeks and every other Friday off.
