Engineer II Test

Position Summary

Perform operational tests on production components, subassemblies and systems involving a thorough working knowledge of instrumentation, measurement techniques and high frequency trouble shooting and diagnostics. Responsible for a specific technical activity and completion of assigned task on time and budget. Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems. Uses computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments. Ability to work independently

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Verifies and analyses test results. Troubleshoots repairs and adjusts equipment so that their performance complies with test requirements, and that the quality of the product is assured. Determines when rework is necessary to ensure product compliance with specifications.

  • Recommends changes in test procedures and specifications that will contribute to the improvement of testing efficiency and capabilities.

  • Works from a variety of documents including test specifications, wiring diagrams, schematics, etc. where complete information is frequently lacking or from general oral engineering instructions requiring technical judgment, initiative and experience.

  • Responsible for technical activity and completion of assigned task on time and budget

  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems

  • May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments. Ability to work independently, regular reporting of progress and status

  • Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction develops designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable

  • Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments

  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services

  • Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements

  • Develop prototypes to retire key development risks

  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required

  • Participates in preparation of less complex proposals

  • May provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel

  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

Involved with the design and development of test programs to measure the functionality and integrity of products and services. Writes test procedures and protocols to assess product reliability and evaluates the ability of products to meet performance standards and specifications. Debugs test hardware and software.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of experience; or a minimum of 10 years of experience with the above without a degree.

  • Competent technical expertise and application domain knowledge

  • Experience working in an engineering laboratory on production and development environment.

  • Candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship.
