DRS Naval Power Systems (NPS) a multi-site operation responsible for $350 million of revenue with locations in Milwaukee, WI, Danbury, CT, Fitchburg, MA, and High Ridge, MO with an employee base of approximately 900 employees. Position Summary

Manage and direct the daily execution of contract requirements to assure that cost, schedules and performance goals are met. Lead meetings and the integrated product team (kick-off through project close). Project issues that may impact program deliverables, budgets and schedules as well as communicate and strategize potential outcomes and resolutions with stakeholders. Provide interface, communication and coordination with internal and external customers on matters pertaining to existing contracts and bid and proposal activities. Responsibilities are conducted under the guidance of senior level program manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops plans, schedules and budgets to meet contractual requirements for multiple and/or large complex programs

  • Establishes complex program plans and conducts in-depth research to define program requirements

  • Leads major coordination efforts for complex delivery schedules

  • Interfaces with all levels of the customer, vendors and internal departments to coordinate deliverables, budgets and schedules

  • Consults with management and customers on modifications for optimum schedules

  • Coordinates budgets across the program

  • Participates in vendor evaluation

  • Provides expertise on proposals to identify most appropriate methods to meet project requirements outlined in the Statement of Work

  • Represent management at program reviews, meetings, seminars, etc.

  • Develop and implement plans and schedules to execute contracts/subcontracts. Allocate and control contract budgets for labor, material, travel and purchased services. Report program status to senior management on a monthly basis

  • Formally identify, assess, monitor and mitigate risk throughout the program life cycle. Obtains management approval prior to making decisions that will cause deterioration of established program, cost and schedule objectives

  • Develop and implement corrective action plans when deviations from budgets and/or schedules are evident. Seek senior management assistance in resolving schedule and budget problems as they arise

  • Perform variance analysis of schedule and cost on a formal and informal basis and present them to senior management (i.e. earned value management system)

  • Assists with proposals efforts

  • Provides work leadership for lower level employees

  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree and related technical training with at least 5 years directly related experience (or equivalent combination of education/training and experience)

  • Advanced analysis, decision making and resolution skills

  • Ability to independently manage job in a fast paced dynamic environment

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and written communication skills

  • Ability to communicate and present with impact in large and small group settings

  • Track record of career growth

  • Expert MS Project and EVMS experience

  • U.S. citizenship

  • Ability to obtain security clearance

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge

  • Project Management Certification preferred (i.e. PMP or DAU level 3)

  • Master’s Degree preferred

  • Prior experience in electric motors and variable frequency drives in either the defense or industrial sector a plus

  • Previous experience in a DoD environment strongly desired
