DRS Naval Power Systems (NPS) a multi-site operation responsible for $350 million of revenue with locations in Milwaukee, WI, Bridgeport &Danbury, CT, Fitchburg, MA, and High Ridge, MO with an employee base of approximately 900 employees. NPS is structured into four Lines of Business: Surface, Submarines, Nuclear Instrumentation and Controls and Marlo Coil focusing on supporting the power and propulsion needs of the U.S. Navy. We provide engineering, manufacturing and lifetime support of our highly engineered products.

Successful candidate will gain experience in areas such as stress, vibration and fluid mechanics analysis of large rotating power equipment, thermodynamic design for steam turbines, and mechanical design of specific components. This position will involve working with engineers on both military and industrial equipment such as steam turbines, gas turbine generator sets, permanent magnet motors for industrial and ship propulsion applications and other large power equipment.Co-op Term: January - May 2018.(Dates are flexible to meet academic calendar. In addition there is potential for the opportunity to extend through the summer.)
Sophomore, Junior or Senior Mechanical Engineering student
GPA 2.75 or higher
Working knowledge of MS Office
Self-starter and independent working attributes are essential
Interest in developing engineering skills
Strong interest in applying mechanical engineering principles to design and analyze large power equipment
The individual must be capable of working effectively in a hands-on multidisciplinary team consisting of physicists, engineers, and prototype/test/manufacturing personnel.
