Position Summary

As an Engineering Technician, the successful candidate will be familiar with MIL-STD-130 for identification and marking of U.S Military Property. This job requires process development, characterization, and documentation of thermal label printers for creating UID markings. Additionally, the applicant must demonstrate entry-level skill in assembly and soldering of PCB components. The position will interface with various internal customers having multiple requirements, so strong verbal and written communication skills will be important.

Basic Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED with 1+ years of applicable Engineering technician experience

  • Experience with wireless printing technology

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Proficiency in use of lab equipment such as a Digital Volt Meter, Oscilliscope, Power supplies, etc.

  • Experience in soldering of board-level components

  • Capable of working in a Class 100 Clean Room

  • Flexible and able to perform a wide variety of tasks and processes

  • Detail-oriented, creative problem-solver

Desired Skills

  • Experience working to MIL-STD-130 and the Validation/Verification process of UID labels

  • Data collection and troubleshooting abilities

  • Experience/familiarity with digital cameras, bar code readers/scammers, and microscopes

  • Knowledge of ESD procedures and precautions

  • Knowledge of Label making software (ex. Bartender)

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and interpret GD&T

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up, clean, and characterize wireless label printers/scanners throughout the factory.

  • Able to troubleshoot minor issues (ex. Label jams, mis-alignments, etc.)

  • Work with internal customers to understand label requirements

  • Create, print and verify labels according to MIL-STD-130

  • Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians and support personnel to coordinate, recommend and confer regarding technical activities and progress.

  • Mechanical assembly and maintenance of assorted manufacturing tooling

  • Soldering and assembly of electrical components

  • Other duties as assigned
