Position Summary

Leonardo DRS is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team in Cypress, CA. This position will require the successful candidate to be responsible for quality system development and supporting product quality improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops, maintain and deploys quality plans and activities that translate customer requirements into planned activities

  • Performs analyses of program requirements and prepares responsive quality plans, procedures, schedules and resource allocations to assure optimum quality support

  • Performs inspection activities, to assess conformance of products to the design as defined by the engineering drawings and/or models; evaluates and dispositions non-conforming material

  • Performs material movement transactions after completing inspection process

  • Reviews and approves engineering/test and contractor documentation and provides input to assure that appropriate quality requirements are addressed

  • Provides ongoing quality system support to include performing internal audits, ensuring implementation of root cause corrective actions

  • Provides technical support for Assembly/Test/Inspection personnel to include executing workmanship improvement plans, developing inspection methods and criteria, specifying appropriate sampling plans, interpreting and revising specifications, and processing non-conforming materials

  • Leads in resolving customer quality issues and driving root cause and corrective action on process and product quality issues

  • Participates in supplier selection and improvement processes, including leading with on-site audits, evaluating prototypes, and reviewing and approving of supplier corrective actions

  • Leads and executes customer quality program requirements

  • Develops and generates statistical reports on inspection activities and results, new product or process testing results, etc. and recommends action as required

  • Establishes programs to evaluate the precision and accuracy of production and processing equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical facilities

  • Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field

  • Two (2) or more years of related Quality experience

  • Working knowledge of AS9100 Quality system and industry technical standards (J-STD-001, IPC 610)

  • Ability to obtain DoD Security Clearance

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge

  • ASQ Certification or Black Belt Six Sigma, preferred

  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis tools and configuration management processes

  • Ability to lead a technical group independently

  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively at all levels of the organization and build effective customer relationships

  • Ability to understand military specifications and to read blue prints

  • Ability to define problems and define root cause and effective corrective action

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills
